What is your relationship with struggle?  For most of us, heels dig in, arms extend forward, palms flex outward, and the other cheek literally turns.

The irony is, as long as we respond with aversion to life’s struggles, the struggles will continue.

Struggle results from things not going according to plan.  We expect life to go one way, it goes the other, and we get upset.  It stands to reason that letting go of expectation is key, but easier said than done.

We will be working on this in the upcoming Women's Circle.

One way to let go of expectations is to look back on the chaotic or challenging times in your life.  Ask yourself how each experience served as a step toward who you are now.  For years, I considered my life as an accountant to be nothing more than a cesspool of wasted time and misery.  Turns out, the experience served as the flashing neon sign I required to start learning how to take responsibility for my own happiness.  Today, I support others in creating this awareness, and am madly in love with my work.

When we see our lives from this big-picture viewpoint, we are more trusting and aware that this moment is as it should be.  (This is my version of the “Serenity now!” mantra George’s father employed so eloquently on Seinfeld.)  In turn, we are able to detach a bit from current frustrations, knowing it all connects to a grander plan.

Once we accept the present moment as is, we can begin to embrace struggle as a gateway to growth.  Breakthroughs typically follow periods of intense struggle because we finally let go of how things should be, creating the space for a new possibility.

Avoiding struggle eliminates the possibility for something different to exist.  Even though I knew deep-down I was unhappy in my accounting career, I feared the struggle I assumed would accompany change.  This avoidance kept me right where I was, in a career I despised.

Can you see how the aversion to struggle creates struggle?

If you are not fulfilled, but fear the struggle of transformation, you are not alone.  A group of dynamic women is forming, and these women want to create lasting transformation in their lives.  If you want the same for your life, we want you in the circle.
